Cocktail Hour: Espresso Martini

Australians have taken the Espresso Martini to heart after it was invented in London in the 1980’s. The story goes that a now-famous model came in to the bar of Dick Bradsell, inventor of other modern classics such as The Bramble. Her request for a particular type of drink resulted in this fabulous cocktail that will both a make a hit and give you a hit. Tip: Use fresh espresso coffee for the best espresso martini. Sugar syrup is optional.

Equipment:

Ingredients:

  • 30ml Kahlua or other coffee liqueur
  • 30ml vodka
  • 30ml freshly brewed espresso
  • Ice
  • Coffee beans to garnish
  • Sugar syrup to taste

Directions:

  1. Measure kahlua, vodka and espresso into the cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain Espresso Martini into a chilled martini glass. Top with a sprinkle of coffee beans and serve to get the party started.
