  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp plain flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • Optional: 1 tsp mustard powder
  • Salt, pepper to taste
  • ½ c grated Tasty cheese. (Mature cheddar, gruyere, gouda etc)


  1. Add butter to saucepan and melt over heat.
  2. Add flour and stir until flour begins to bubble. Add mustard powder if using.
  3. Add milk, stirring continuously.
  4. Continue to stir until mixture thickens. Cook for one minute then remove from heat.
  5. Add cheese, salt and pepper. Stir until well combined, then use for your favourite cheese sauce dish.
