As the doors of Kitchen Warehouse Melville opened last Thursday night, a swarm of excited female foodies rushed to the front seats in anticipation of acclaimed French chef Guillaume Brahimi’s masterclass. Apparently he is to them as One Direction is to a group of tween girls. Let’s just say the atmosphere was charged.

Tanned and relaxed after a trip to our beautiful South West for Gourmet Escape, Brahimi had the crowd—plenty of men included—eating out of his hand as he presented a three-course French menu and mused about his successful Australian career, which now includes a Bistro Guillaume in Perth, Sydney, and Melbourne.

IMG_2145 Brahimi visited our Melville store to launch the new Experience range by French cookware giant Tefal. As Tefal ambassador and a Frenchman, Brahimi sung the brand’s praise and shared that all of his bistros exclusively use Tefal in their busy kitchens. His favourite features are the Thermo-spot heat indicator, which turns red when the pan hits the optimum temperature of 180C to lock in flavour, and the built-in temperature control, which when used on an induction cooktop stops the pans from heating beyond 230C, therefore stopping you from burning your food.

Champagne flowed as guests enjoyed Shark Bay prawns IMG_2140on panzanella. Brahimi shared tips on braising the perfect boned lamb shoulder then dished up a grilled stone fruit and mascarpone dessert which will no doubt pop up on more than one of the attendees’ Christmas table this year.

To cap off the French fun, Tefal gave away three Experience woks valued at over $200 each as door prizes. Amazing offers on the range will also continue until the end of December. Brahimi wrapped it all up with a book signing and the obligatory selfies with his fan club.

Come back soon, Guillaume.
