This pressure cooker mince recipe will spice up your day

Chilli con carne makes a simple yet tasty meal any day of the week. Made the day before, the flavours of chilli con carne will become more intense. For quick preparation use an electric chopper to dice your vegetables and spices efficiently. Cook in a large stockpot from Kitchen Warehouse to ensure the flavour is imbued throughout the mince.

Tip: Use chipotle chilli for a smoky flavour.



  • 500g mince
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 red capsicum, seeded and chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp ground chilli, or one fresh chilli chopped. Remove seeds for milder flavour.
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes
  • 410 tin red kidney beans
  • 310g tin corn kernels
  • 1 Tbsp tomato puree
  • Salt, black pepper, ground
  • Sour cream, rice to serve

Directions for Chilli Con Carne:

Pressure Cooker

  1. Heat oil in pressure cooker on Saute setting, add onion, garlic, red capsicum, cumin, chilli, paprika and marjoram.
  2. Change to Browning and add mince. Cook through.
  3. Add tomatoes, tomato puree, beans, corn, bay leaves and black pepper. Choose High pressure and set for 15min, release pressure and taste and adjust seasoning.

Remove bay leaves before serving with sour cream and rice.


  1. Heat oil in pan.
  2. Add onion and cook until clear.
  3. Add garlic, cumin, chilli, paprika and marjoram and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add mince and stir to combine well with spices, garlic and onion. Cook until meat is brown.
  5. Add salt, pepper, tomato puree, tomatoes, kidney beans, corn, chopped red capsicum and bay leaves. Cover with lid and leave to simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Remove the bay leaf and serve your tasty Chilli Con Carne with rice and sour cream.
