If you’re looking for a way to show off your SodaStream drink maker on the benchtop, mum’s day is a good excuse. Of course, we all love Happy Hour (and showing mums our love!). Shake up, mix up and top up these lovely cocktails with some soda and tonic water. 

Now’s the time to live your mixologist dreams! Don’t worry, we won’t require you some bartending skills. 

The Ruby Rosemary

Equipment

Ingredients

  • Rosemary fronds
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 30ml vodka
  • 60ml ruby grapefruit juice
  • 60ml SodaStream tonic water 
  • Ice cubes

Instructions 

  1. Place rosemary, sugar, and water in a saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool then strain and chill in the fridge for 1 hour. This will be your rosemary simple syrup.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the tonic water using your SodaStream. Fill the bottle with water up to the filling line and fizz up to your desired carbonation level. Add the classic tonic syrup slowly down the side of the bottle and shake gently in a rolling motion. 
  3. To finally mix the cocktail, place two tablespoons of rosemary syrup, vodka, and ruby grapefruit juice straight into a cocktail glass over ice. 
  4. Top up with SodaStream tonic water. 
  5. Garnish with rosemary and wedge of ruby grapefruit.

Lady Marmalade, Fennel & Gin Fizz

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 small fennel, chopped
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup of caster sugar
  • ¼ cup marmalade
  • ½ cup triple sec
  • ¾ cup gin
  • Ice cubes
  • ½ cup SodaStream soda water

Instructions

  1. Place chopped fennel, seeds, and water in a saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Strain and place in the fridge for 1 hour. This will be your fennel simple syrup.
  3. Combine fennel syrup, marmalade, triple sec, gin, and ice in a shaker and shake. You may need to do this in two lots.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the soda water using your SodaStream. Fill the bottle with water up to the filling line and fizz up to your desired carbonation level.
  5. Pour into two Martini glasses till ¾ full, top with soda water and garnish with a fennel frond.

Mamacita

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 30ml tequila
  • 15ml crème de cassis
  • 15ml fresh lime
  • 200ml Sodastream ginger ale
  • Blackberry and lime wedge to garnish

Instructions

  1. Place tequila, crème de cassis, fresh lime, and ice in a shaker and shake.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the ginger ale using your SodaStream. Fill the bottle with water up to the filling line and fizz up to your desired carbonation level. Add the classic ginger ale syrup slowly down the side of the bottle and shake gently in a rolling motion. 
  3. Pour into a tall glass with lots of ice and top with ginger ale.
  4. Add a couple of blackberries and lime wedge.
