Optimise the taste of your tea with a temperature controlled kettle.

Did you know that brewing your water to the correct temperature will make the tea taste as it should? Forget the mantra your Dad drummed into you about pouring the water while boiling – your temperature controlled kettle will ensure your tea tastes terrific by heating it to the correct temperature according to your favourite leaf type. Find out more with our Kettle Buying Guide. If you don’t fancy updating your kettle just yet, use a thermometer to gauge the water before pouring.

Optimal water temperature and steeping times for tea:

Black tea 88°C – 100°C Weak tea: 45 sec – 1 minute
Strong tea: 2 – 3 minutes
Herbal 100°C Flowers: 5 – 6 minutes

Brewing tips:

  1. Follow supplier instructions.
  2. Experiment: Try lower temperature, brew for less or more time, use more tea leaves.
  3. Try cooler water – tea can be ruined by water that is too hot but not by water that is too cold.
